Chapter 1
IN THIS LESSON
Simple Version
Light therapy uses special red and near-infrared light that penetrates into your skin and tissues. This light gets absorbed by tiny parts of your cells called mitochondria, which are like the batteries that power your cells.
When the right amount of light hits these cellular batteries, several good things happen:
Your cells make more energy (called ATP)
Blood vessels open up to bring more oxygen and nutrients to damaged areas
Inflammation goes down
Healing speeds up
